Eyecare Plus Taree is the longest established Optometry practice in the Manning Valley. The practice began in 1943 when Webster, Jack and McDonald opened a branch after consulting at the neighbouring pharmacy for 25 years.

Over 80 years later, Peter McKay and Jenny Nguyen carry on the tradition of the thorough eye care and quality eyewear. They are supported by a team of qualified and experienced optical dispensers and optical assistants.

Eye Health

We want you to feel confident about your vision and eye health, by providing proper eye care for the whole family.

Our eye examinations are thorough and pleasant. We always check for eye diseases including cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease. We love to explain what we find, so you know what is going on with your eyes. You will be given the best options for your eye care, your glasses, contact lenses and any surgery required.

Peter has been doing children’s vision and evidence-based behavioural optometry for 25 years, and always enjoys seeing the kids. We see children of all ages.

Our normal eye examinations take around 30 minutes. All testing is done by the optometrist themselves. We generally do retinal imaging – where we take a high resolution photo of the back of the eye, as this lets us show you your macula and nerves and blood vessels. This test is extremely useful for detecting diseases of the eye and general health. We also take images of the front of the eye as needed.

Our eye examinations are partly paid for by Medicare. There is generally a gap of $20 to $65, depending on what is required. We know this is excellent value for money.
